May 30, 2012 by Sara Nagreen

NOTE: To connect to an LSS server you must be either be:

  1. On campus and using a wired network connection, OR
  2. Anywhere else as long as you're using WiscVPN. You can download and see installation instructions for WiscVPN at this web address: http://www.doit.wisc.edu/network/vpn/.

Using Mac OS X to connect to a server

  1. Click the "Go" menu and choose the "Connect to Server" option.
  2. Where it says "Address:", type the "path" we provided you with.  It should be in this format: smb://servername/path.
  3. Click Connect.
  4. A window will appear. Make sure that Registered Guest is selected.  Then enter your username and password in the appropriate fields.
  5. Click Connect.
  6. If you're successful, a window will open showing you your files.  If this is your home directory, web files may be in a folder called public_html.
