Setting a Firefox Live Bookmark for Digital Learning Lab Files

August 7, 2009 by Chad Shorter

Mostly likely, the media files for your course will be set before the semester and they will not change.  In this scenario, a live bookmark is not as advantageous as it would be if the course files were constantly updated.  One benefit of using a live bookmark, however, is that all media files will be bookmarked (with your course as a heading) instead of solely bookmarking the course listing.

Setting a Firefox live bookmark:

  1. Go to the Digital Learning Lab site:  lss.wisc.edu/digital-learning-lab
  2. Click on the xml graphicimage for your course.
  3. Click on the "Subscribe Now" button at the top of the page.
  4. In the dialog box, you can name the bookmark and decide where to place it within your bookmarks.  Click Add.
  5. Your bookmark will now contain all of the media files for your course and it will update automatically (Firefox checks for updates every hour).
