International Channels available on DATN

September 24, 2009 by Chad Shorter

The Digital Academic Television Network (DATN) now provides several international channels for UW-Madison students, faculty and staff.  All users can access the channels at http://datn.wisc.edu and can view broadcasts on computers with a wired connection -- not by a wireless internet connection -- anywhere on the UW-Madison campus (including university housing).

International channels now available:

RTN America (Russia)
NTV America (Russia)
Channel One Russia
RAI International (Italy)
TV5 (France)
DW-TV (Germany)
Al Jazeera -- in English -- (Qatar)
Arabic Radio and Television (Saudi Arabia)
tvK (Korea)
CCTV4 (China)
CCTV9 (China)
TV Asia -- in English
TV Japan

All system requirements can be found at http://datn.wisc.edu as well as a DATN player (with a  television-like interface) that operates on MAC OS X.

These international channels can also be viewed on the televisions in the LSS Learning Lab in  259 Van Hise.

We are currently working on ways to record content on DATN.  In the meantime, other options may be possible for making content available for instructional use. Please contact Brian Deith brian@lss.wisc.edu for more information.
