LSS Contributes to Inside Islam: Dialogues and Debates

July 7, 2008 by David Macasaet

L&S Learning Support Services recently provided workshops in support of a new program called Inside Islam: Dialogues and Debates. The training, called Digital Storytelling with Audacity, prepared faculty and instructional staff to produce user-generated audio stories that illustrate underrepresented or neglected cultural, intellectual, and political aspects of Islam and Muslims.

The user-generated stories will be delivered by a new website and compliment hour-long radio programs produced for the pioneering Wisconsin Public Radio program, Here on Earth: Radio without Borders.Inside Islam is a collaboration between UW-Madison’s nine area and international studies centers, Wisconsin Public Radio, and the public.

L&S Learning Support Services will also provide technical consultation and production assistance to faculty and instructional staff who produce user-generated digital stories as part of the program. Inside Islam is supported by a program titled "Academia in the Public Sphere: Islam and Muslims in World Contexts," funded by the Carnegie Corporation and administered by the Social Science Research Council.
