Richie Sanchez, Madison Memorial class of 2012, recently completed a three week internship at LSS as part of the Information Technology Academy (People Program). Richie has been a member of the People Program since 6th grade, following the footsteps of his older brother, who found the technology and college-like experiences invaluable in his school work.
The VRC staff, Dennis, David, and Jonathan, provided Richie with a variety of video technology experiences from simple to more complex. Richie printed designs on cds, inventoried software, played around with blu-ray, and copied videos to dvd format. More sophisticated duties included acting as a team camera person at a live video shoot, setting up a studio for a recording, and using editing software programs Final Cut Pro and I-Movie. A lasting contribution from Richie can be found in our Digital Language Lab. Richie converted Nepali language materials produced at UW-Madison from audio cassette to digital format. The materials are now publicly available.
Richie particularly enjoyed video editing and setting up the studio environment. He envisions using his LSS experiences in the upcoming school year when he is required to make videos for various classes. He finds technology fun and welcomes the challenges of troubleshooting. No surprise that his favorite class at Memorial is auto tech.
Thanks, Richie, from the LSS staff! We enjoyed having you!
