Several exciting L&S LSS projects will be discussed as a part of Doug Worsham's presentation Social Networking and Remix Culture at the ComETS (Community of Educational Technology Support) Sampler Session on the final day of the 2007 Teaching and Learning Symposium.
Social networking software helps groups of people share, organize, and discuss their work and their ideas. A remix culture, or more simply a culture of sharing, encourages the distribution and re-purposing of creative work. These two ideas are often associated with "fun" websites like Flickr and YouTube, but they can also be used to get real work done in academic environments. This quick, ten minute sampler takes a look at how L&S LSS is putting social software and remix culture to work in the College of Letters and Science. Presentation Slides and Notes (pdf)
