LSS Welcomes Barbara Bird

Barbara is a PhD student in the SLA (Second Language Acquisition) http://sla.wisc.edu/ program, and has an MA in Italian literature. Barbara has taught Italian for several years here at UW- Madison.

As an instructor, Barbara uses technology and media to engage students and to build a bridge between the classroom and the foreign language community. Barbara's interests include exploring how technology can increase investment and participation.

Barbara's research interests include heritage language identity and literacy, foreign language literacy, and social interaction in the classroom.

Lately Barbara has been exploring her own Lithuanian heritage, and plans to start studying Lithuanian this summer. http://warblingbb.blogspot.com/

Here at LSS Barbara has already started working on a variety of projects. When she can get away from the AV Pool, Barbara is a consultant for Engage’s Collaboration awards, has started an exciting new podcast, and is working on several small web, audio and video editing projects.
