The fourth seminar in the series Principles and Practices of Integrating Technology and Teaching, "Make Room for the Computer Cart?: Incorporating Teaching Technology in a Non-equipped Classroom," was held on Monday, February 13th. Theresa Pesavento (Learning Support Services) led the discussion, with collaboration and materials from LSS Media Services consultants David Macasaet and Jonathan Klein.
In "Make Room for the Computer Cart?", we discussed various challenges and common scenarios that instructors face in non-equipped classrooms or in non-technology-supported teaching environments. We presented some pedagogical goals and instructional techniques to consider when facing these challenges and highlight resources and potential solutions for bringing technology into a non-equipped classroom or teaching environment. Materials from this seminar are attached.
Each seminar in the series will have a short wrap-up video that revisits the main points discussed in the seminar. On site in the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery and with the LSS Media Services team of David Macasaet and Jonathan Klein, Theresa recaps the "Make Room for the Computer Cart?" seminar and previews the next seminar in the series, "Expanding into the Virtual Classroom: Working with Collaborative Teaching and Learning Spaces," to be held on March 22nd.
Also watch the full-length tutorials and informational videos produced by Jonthan and David as part of the seminar materials. Jonathan discusses instructional presentation with reuseable learning objects. David describes mobile media production, offers a tutorial for working with iMovie on the iPad, and demos a multimedia adaptation of the traditional in-class language skit activity.
Please share these materials with those who may be interested, see the attached schedule for upcoming seminar topics, and check back at http://lss.wisc.edu for date and time updates.
