Instructor Seminar Series: "Collaborative Teaching and Learning Spaces" on March 22nd

L&S Learning Support Services and DoIT Academic Technology invite you to join us for the seminar series Principles and Practices of Integrating Technology and Teaching.

"Expanding into the "Virtual" Classroom: Working with Collaborative Teaching and Learning Spaces," the fifth seminar in the series, will be held on Thursday, March 22nd from 2pm-3pm in 254 Van Hise. Theresa Pesavento (Learning Support Services) and Chad Shorter (DoIT Academic Technology) will lead the discussion.

In "Expanding into the Virtual Classroom: Working with Collaborative Teaching and Learning Spaces," Theresa and Chad Shorter will present two useful instructional collaboration tools: Collaborative Sites and Google Docs. For each tool, we will give a quick overview, discuss its advantages/disadvantages, show a few case studies, and brainstorm additional instructional possibilities.

Our last seminar, "Make Room for the Computer Cart?: Incorporating Teaching Technology in a Non-equipped Classroom," was held on Monday, February 13th. Theresa Pesavento (Learning Support Services) led the discussion, with collaboration and materials from LSS Media Services consultants David Macasaet and Jonathan Klein. In this seminar, we discussed various challenges and common scenarios that instructors face in non-equipped classrooms or in non-technology-supported teaching environments. We presented some pedagogical goals and instructional techniques to consider when facing these challenges and highlight resources and potential solutions for bringing technology into a non-equipped classroom or teaching environment.

For more information on "Make Room for the Computer Cart?", please see (and share) our news story and watch our wrap-up video, where Theresa recaps the main points of the seminar on site in the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery and with the LSS Media Services team of David Macasaet and Jonathan Klein.
