Instructor Seminar Series: "Developing your Teaching and Learning Networks" on April 18th

L&S Learning Support Services and DoIT Academic Technology invite you to join us for the seminar series Principles and Practices of Integrating Technology and Teaching.

"Beyond the Classroom Walls: Developing your Teaching and Learning Networks," our sixth and last seminar for the year, will be held on Wednesday, April 18th from 3pm to 4pm in 254 Van Hise. Theresa Pesavento (Learning Support Services) and Chad Shorter (DoIT Academic Technology) are joined by Dan LaValley (Digital Media Center) and Jeff Bohrer (DoIT Academic Technology) to discuss the question, "How do you learn about new ideas for the classes you teach?"

Check out the ideas that some instructors shared with Theresa and Chad!

The panel for this seminar will present a number of different ways you could get new ideas from other instructors in your department, in other schools and colleges on campus, and beyond. Discussion topics will include campus locations, web sites, and programs that can help as well as using social media (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.) to develop new ideas.

*Note: This discussion will be cast in terms of finding ideas for teaching (professional development), not on using these tools in the classroom. Please RSVP to theresa@lss.wisc.edu if you plan to attend the "Developing your Teaching and Learning Networks" seminar. We hope to see you there!

Our last seminar, "Expanding into the "Virtual" Classroom: Working with Collaborative Teaching and Learning Spaces," was held on Thursday, March 22nd, and Theresa and Chad presented two useful instructional collaboration tools: Collaborative Sites and Google Docs. For each tool, they gave a quick overview, discussed its advantages/disadvantages, showed a few case studies, and brainstormed additional instructional possibilities.
