Slideshow: Authentic, Intercultural, Professional Communication in Prof. Janet Caulkins' French 313

Students enrolled in French 313: Professional Communication and Culture in the Francophone World had a once in a lifetime experience when their professor Janet Caulkins introduced them to Dr. Pascal Baudry. Baudry is author of Français et Américains, l’autre rive, an influential text on culture and communication. Using a transatlantic video connection, he welcomed the students into a castle in the Loire Valley where they practiced their French communication skills and had a lively discussion about French Culture.

This slideshow illustrates how Professor Caulkins uses simple tools to bring authentic voices into the classroom, provide students with opportunities to apply their skills, and bring course content to life with compelling and challenging cross-cultural experiences. Read more »

LSS Welcomes Shahin Izadi

ShahinLearning Support Services is happy to welcome Shahin Izadi as LSS's Media Production Project Assistant.

Shahin is a PhD student in the Philosophy Department, and has taught
philosophy for several years at UW-Madison.  He has an MA in
philosophy, and is currently writing a dissertation on well-being in

Spring Break Hours

The AV Pool will close Friday, March 13 at 4:00 pm.
All will reopen Monday, March 23 at 8:30 am.
