What's New: Fall 2000
Over the summer of 2000, Learning Support Services (LSS) has added
a number of new and improved technology services and facilities
to support you in your teaching. Some items are for use Van Hise
classrooms only. But some of the new services, especially digital
production and delivery, are available free to all L&S faculty.*
Multimedia computer carts
PC or Mac systems, with data projectors, network connections, and
built-in DVD players. Now anyone can bring the Internet, PowerPoint,
or DVD movies into the classroom.
Overhead Projectors
Each Van Hise classroom is equipped with a permanently installed
overhead projector. LSS also offers workshops to learn how to create
effective overhead transparencies.
TV Carts
In addition to equipment in the AV pool (275 Van Hise), there are
TV carts (TV and VCR) permanently located on each floor, thus reducing
the need to move equipment on the elevators.
Video Viewing Room
Our TV studio is now equipped with a large screen projector and
surround sound, along with multi-format video or DVD players.
Digital Media Facilities
Capture and edit material digitally with DAT audio recorders, and
digital video and still cameras. Prepare materials for use on CDs,
on the web (including streaming video and audio) or in computer
presentations.
