Acrobat Reader Tips
Downloading and Using Acrobat Reader
All downloadable media on this page requires the use of Adobe Acrobat
Reader. If you wish to search the text of the file - for example,
looking for a title or director name - you must have Adobe Acrobat
Reader with Search. Both products are available free of
charge. Acrobat Reader is on the Wiscworld CD-ROM.
Both Acrobat Reader and Acrobat Reader with Search can
also be downloaded from any of the following sites:
When Acrobat Reader is installed, it places a file in your web browser's
Plugin folder. This enables the Reader to automatically open within
your browser when you click on a link to a PDF file.
Saving a PDF File to your PC or Macintosh
If you wish to save the file to your personal computer, hold down
the shift key (PC) or the option key (Mac) while you
click on the hyperlink. You'll see a "Save As" dialog box appear.
Navigate to an appropriate directory or drive and click on the Save
button to save the file.
Searching a PDF File
The Media Catalog can be searched with Adobe Acrobat Reader with
Search . Click on the Find icon (binocular icon) on the
toolbar at the top of the Acrobat window to search for a word or phrase.
Copying and Pasting Portions of a PDF File
To copy text from a PDF file, first click on the Text Select Tool
on the toolbar at the top of the Acrobat window. Then use your
mouse to select the text that you wish to copy.
Once the text is selected, click on the Copy icon.
This will copy your text to the Clipboard of your computer.
Move to a word processor (or other application) and use the Paste
icon (or select Edit | Paste) to paste the selected text.
