L&S Learning Support Services employs approximately thirty UW-Madison students throughout the academic year. LSS offers a fun yet challenging work environment and the opportunity to develop skills employers look for after graduation.
Shifts are available weekdays between 8:30 am and 8:30 pm. You may be assigned to work in any of the following areas in Van Hise Hall: Learning Lab (library), InfoLab (computer lab), AV Equipment Pool, Office Reception. We will provide all necessary training. Starting pay is $7.60/hour, with raises each semester.
Duties can include:
Opportunities to pick up extra hours videotaping classes and events, as well as substituting for other lab attendants, are available to all lab attendants.
Hiring and scheduling are based primarily on your class schedule. You must be available to work 8-10 hours a week. More hours may be available. Shifts are scheduled weekdays between 8:30 am and 8:30 pm.
In addition, students interested in applying must exhibit a positive attitude, attention to detail, and ability to communicate effectively with the faculty, staff and students who use our facilities and services. Interest in foreign languages and computers is helpful but not required. Preference may also be given to students who are available to work for more than one year.
Most hiring occurs close to the beginning of the semester. However, applications are always welcome and will stay on file for the current semester. Applicants not hired must reapply the following semester if they wish to be considered for future openings.
