Media Players: Choosing one you like

There are many media players available.  Some will come with your operating system, and others you can download for free.  Choosing between them depends primarily on which operating system you have and your own preferences about which one you like to use.  Some players can play a broader array of video formats, so if you are having trouble opening a video or DVD you may try another.  This table can guide you to the players available for each operating system.

Streaming video: Troubleshooting

Most of LSS streamed video is in the QuickTime streaming format.  If you cannot successfully view a streamed video, try these steps:

  1. Did you give it the correct ID and password if one is needed?  If not, you will probably be prompted for it again and again until you get them right.

Digital Learning Lab: Setting a live bookmark to keep up with your videos

Live bookmarks let you skip a few steps when you want to access your Digital Learning Lab audio files.  Instead of navigating to the DLL page and selecting the media you want to play, you can access the media directly through your bookmarks.  The live bookmark will maintain an up-to-date list of all the media files posted on that page, which you can click on to play directly.  This is particularly beneficial if you're on a cell phone.
