Laptop checkout quota news

The UW InfoLabs have implemented a limit on the number of laptops that can be checked out per semester.  This was implemented to increase the availability of laptops.  It will not affect most patrons, since only a very few actually use a laptop more than 20 times.   If you checked a laptop out last semester, you will receive an email notification of the change.  The quota system is also referenced in your confirmation emails when you check a laptop out. Mini DV Camera: Moving your video onto a computer

On the Mac side:

1.    Connect your Macbook to the camera via fire wire ONLY (the 4-pin port is located in the interior of the LCD screen housing, marked “DV”). Connect large end (6-pin) fire wire cable to Macbook.
Do NOT force cable. Be careful not to try to insert fire wire into USB port
2.    Turn camera ON
3.    Turn camera dial to playback mode (green play arrow must be selected)

Projecting from an InfoLab Macbook

Macbook VGA adapters available

The LSS InfoLab has acquired seven Mini DVI-VGA adapters to connect a Macbook to a projector.  The adapters will work with the Macbooks available for check out in the LSS InfoLab, but must be checked out separately.  You can also check out an adapter to use with a personal Macbook.  Please verify the type of connection that you need for your personal Macbook - this adapter will not work with all Macbooks or Macbook Pros. 

Pandemic Awareness in the InfoLab

expected to be severe. Because you are working in a public environment,
you will want to take special precautions to protect your health. To that end, we're
supplying disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer for your use.  The wipes and sanitizer are found at the front desk.  We're also taking special care when handling and cleaning returned equipment.

CLUE tip sheet

The UW-Madison Campus Libraries have provided the attached tipsheet for those students completing CLUE.  CLUE is a web-based multimedia tutorial that orients you to the campus library system and the resources and services available to you. 

CLUE must be run on a PC, and will require speakers or headphones.  You may bring your own headphones into the LSS InfoLab.  You can also borrow a headset from the lab attendant in the LSS InfoLab.  The lab attendant will hold your student ID while you use the headset. Read more »

  • Friday, May 15: 10 am to 12 noon

InfoLab (464 Van Hise)

  • Monday, May 11: 10 am to 4 pm
  • Tuesday, May 12: 10 am to 4 pm
  • Wednesday, May 13: 10 am to 4 pm
  • Thursday, May 14: 10 am to 2 pm
  • Friday, May 15: 10 am to 12 noon

Both labs will be closed May 16-June 15.

Spring Break Hours

The AV Pool will close Friday, March 13 at 4:00 pm.
All will reopen Monday, March 23 at 8:30 am.
