Summer at Learning Support Services

L&S Learning Support Services is open all summer long!

Not only are LSS staff available to assist with summer and fall courses, but also items from the AV Pool and media collection are available for reservation and checkout (even when the AV Pool and Learning Lab are closed.) Summer hours are listed below.

Learning Lab and InfoLab open September 6

The Learning Lab and InfoLab will be open on Tuesday, September 6, from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Regular hours will begin on Wednesday, September 7. See http://lss.wisc.edu/hours for schedule.

Both labs underwent remodeling this summer and we're excited to show them off! An unveling is planned later this fall. Watch for details at http://lss.wisc.edu/

Workshop Take 2: Ideas for Teaching in Computer Classrooms

Infolab: Flip Cameras and H2 Audio Recorders!

With a seemingly constant flow of people in and out of the room, the Van Hise Infolab, room 464, has become a “go-to” spot for many of UW’s students and faculty. Whether printing an assignment for class, checking the latest news updates, or simply avoiding the cold temperatures outside, the Infolab has a lot to offer its customers. In addition to housing 45 dual boot computers, equipment is available for checkout. Awesome!

LSS Computer Classroom Gets Makeover

LSS recently upgraded the computer
classroom in room 274 Van Hise Hall. The laptops are gone and have
been replaced with:

 

  • Mac minis capable of running both Mac
    and Windows programs
  • 22" LCD monitors
  • better web cameras

International Channels available on DATN

The Digital Academic Television Network (DATN) now provides several international channels for UW-Madison students, faculty and staff.  All users can access the channels at http://datn.wisc.edu and can view broadcasts on computers with a wired connection -- not by a wireless internet connection -- anywhere on the UW-Madison campus (including university housing).   • Tuesday, May 12: 10 am to 4 pm
  • Wednesday, May 13: 10 am to 2 pm
  • Thursday, May 14: 10 am to 2 pm
  • Friday, May 15: 10 am to 12 noon

InfoLab (464 Van Hise)

  • Monday, May 11: 10 am to 4 pm
  • Tuesday, May 12: 10 am to 4 pm
  • Wednesday, May 13: 10 am to 4 pm
  • Thursday, May 14: 10 am to 2 pm
  • Friday, May 15: 10 am to 12 noon

Both labs will be closed May 16-June 15.

Spring Break Hours

The AV Pool will close Friday, March 13 at 4:00 pm.
All will reopen Monday, March 23 at 8:30 am.
