Using Media from the Digital Learning Lab

May 5, 2009 by Sue Weier

If you are viewing movies or listening to audio from the Digital Learning Lab while in the LSS InfoLab, you may be prompted to unblock the web browser.  This behavior occurs in both Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers.  The prompt appears after you have entered the correct username and password.

To view the movie or listen to the audio, click the "Unblock" button.

At that point, you will see the movie/audio begin to load and you should be able to continue without any problems.

On a PC

  1. Select File->Print.
  2. Look at the available printers.
  3. Select the printer with duplex in the name.
  4. Click OK or Print, depending on your application.

The English-International keyboard is available on all of the Windows-based computers in the InfoLab.  It ships as part of Microsoft Windows, and is an easy way to enter diacritics and accents for common Western languages.  More information about the English-International keyboard is available at the Wikipedia article on keyboard layouts:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keyboard_layout#US-International.

Pandemic Awareness in the InfoLab

September 8, 2009 by Sue Weier

You've probably heard news about the upcoming flu season, which is expected to be severe. Because you are working in a public environment, you will want to take special precautions to protect your health. To that end, we're supplying disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer for your use.  The wipes and sanitizer are found at the front desk.  We're also taking special care when handling and cleaning returned equipment.

Here are some suggestions to keep you healthy and improve the cleanliness of the InfoLab:

CLUE tip sheet

September 8, 2009 by Sue Weier

The UW-Madison Campus Libraries have provided the attached tipsheet for those students completing CLUE.  CLUE is a web-based multimedia tutorial that orients you to the campus library system and the resources and services available to you.

CLUE must be run on a PC, and will require speakers or headphones.  You may bring your own headphones into the LSS InfoLab.  You can also borrow a headset from the lab attendant in the LSS InfoLab.  The lab attendant will hold your student ID while you use the headset.
