Backup Software for Cheap or Free
In looking for a backup solution that people can use on their own machines, I had a few requirements.
1) EASE OF USE: they can install it and configure it themselves.
2) SCHEDULING: Set up the backup software to work and forget it.
3) COST: Low or no cost
4) SAFE: Not spyware
5) BACKUP WHERE: network drive or external hard drive
I'm still testing solutions, but here are some definite candidates.
Best Backup Solutions of 2007 praises something called Yosemite FileKeeper, which has a 30 day try period, and a ~$30 cost. A five-computer license is ~$145, which might be good for the multi-computer user.
Back2Zip. Interesting. Free.
JaBack
SyncBack SE (this is shareware, and you have to pay ~$30 for continued use.)
