Wireless Connectivity Fix

PC laptops sometimes use a vendor interface for picking a wireless access point. Many times this can be confusing to use, and not easily apparent. To fix this, you can instruct your wireless card to use the Windows interface, which is in my opinion more stable and more apparent.

Here's how.

1. Turn on Wireless Zero Configuration.

Go to Start, Run.
Type services.msc.
Hit Enter.

Go to the bottom of the right screen.

Double click Wireless Zero Configuration.

Click and change Service Status to Start. Make sure the Startup type is Automatic.

Click the RECOVERY tab.

Change the 1st Failure and the 2nd Failure to Restart the Service. Change Subsequent Failures to Take No Action.

Swtich back to the General Tab.

Click OK.

Close all the windows now open.

2. Turn on Windows Control for your Wireless Card.

Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel

Make sure you are looking at it like this.

If your view looks like this, which is category view, then click on the side where it says "Switch to Classic View".

Click on Network Connections.

Double click on your Wireless Connection. Click View Wireless Networks.

Click Change the order of preferred networks.

Click Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings.

Click OK.

You should now be able to use the Windows interface to see your wireless networks.
