"Mailbox Update" phishing email

There’s nothing like a campus-wide phishing email to enliven a Monday afternoon.  Today, the TechZone began receiving messages from many faculty and staff regarding a suspicious email.  The email is titled “University of Wisconsin-Madison Mailbox Update” and appears to be hitting much of campus. The message is not legitimate, so we wanted to warn everyone to be careful where they click.

Note the following interesting parts of thie email:

March Madness in Madison

March Madness is upon us here at UW in more ways than one. Not only did the Badgers earn a number one seed in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament and recently advance to the Sweet Sixteen, but congratulations are also in order to many UW-Madison faculty. So far this month 13 UW faculty members were honored with awards, five of those being College of Letters and Science professors.

Congratulations to the 2015 Campus-wide Teaching Assistant Award Recipients

Learning Support Services would like to congratulate the 14 Teaching Assistants who received the 2015 Campus-wide Teaching Assistant Awards!

With over 2,000 Teaching Assistants at UW-Madison, Learning Support Services is proud that almost 70 percent of them work within the College of Letters & Sciences. Teaching Assistants play an essential role in the classroom by enhancing and facilitating students learning at UW-Madison. Without the amazing work that they do, UW-Madison would not be the renowned university it is today.

Q&A with David Macasaet: LSS' Resident Filmmaker

Last month, we were thrilled to announce that David Macasaet, Senior Instructional Technology Consultant and Media Services Coordinator here at LSS, co-directed a short documentary that was selected for the 2014 Wisconsin Film Festival. “The Round Barns of Vernon County” explores the fascinating history of the unusual round structures that are unique to the rural areas in Vernon County, Wisconsin. One of the round barns is just down the street from the home where Macaset grew up in Viroqua, Wisconsin.
